About the route

Malpensa → Lucca210 minutes

Lucca is the Tuscan city that kept its Renaissance walls intact instead of demolishing them for boulevards, and the walk or cycle on top of the ramparts around the old town is one of the few genuinely quiet ways to see a Tuscan centre without fighting crowds. It's also the birthplace of the composer Giacomo Puccini, whose house near Piazza Cittadella is now a museum. The historic centre is largely closed to outside traffic, so a private transfer that knows the correct access point for your hotel saves a walk with luggage that a standard taxi drop-off wouldn't.

Malpensa → Lucca

Lucca is the Tuscan city that kept its Renaissance walls intact instead of demolishing them for boulevards, and the walk or cycle on top of the ramparts around the old town is one of the few genuinely quiet ways to see a Tuscan centre without fighting crowds. It's also the birthplace of the composer Giacomo Puccini, whose house near Piazza Cittadella is now a museum. The historic centre is largely closed to outside traffic, so a private transfer that knows the correct access point for your hotel saves a walk with luggage that a standard taxi drop-off wouldn't.

The drive from Malpensa is about 340 km and takes roughly 3.5 hours. The route runs south on the A1 motorway toward Florence, crossing the Apennines through the mountains between Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany, then continues on the A11 west from Florence toward Lucca and Pisa. Traffic through the Apennine tunnels can slow the middle section, particularly on Friday afternoons and Sunday returns; we account for this in the pickup time rather than quoting a best-case drive.

Meet and greet happens at arrivals with a name board, and your flight is tracked so a delayed arrival doesn't cost you the slot. Sixty minutes of free waiting is included. Luggage from a longer Italian trip — extra cases, wine boxes, anything beyond the outbound packing — fits without a supplement in the right vehicle class. Water, Wi-Fi, and drivers who speak English, Italian, and Russian are standard.

Couples and solo travellers fit comfortably in the E-Class for the 3.5-hour drive. Families and small groups take the V-Class, which also covers extra luggage. The S-Class is available for business travellers who want the quietest ride, and the Sprinter handles larger groups. All prices are fixed per vehicle at booking, with no toll surcharge added after the fact.

Book through the form on this page or via WhatsApp; payment is settled after the trip.

Malpensa splits arrivals between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 by airline, and your driver checks which one applies before heading to the correct arrivals hall. Child seats are available on request at no extra charge — specify ages when booking so they're already fitted when you land. The return leg to Malpensa is priced the same as the arrival, and given the Apennine crossing adds unpredictability, we recommend booking it as soon as your departure flight is confirmed rather than leaving it until the last day of the trip. Payment for either direction is settled after the drive, by card or cash, with written confirmation of the driver and vehicle sent ahead of time.

For reference, the E-Class trunk takes two large suitcases and two carry-ons without trouble, and we size the V-Class up from there once a booking mentions extra passengers or equipment. Changes to the plan — a moved flight, one more traveller, additional bags — are simplest to handle over WhatsApp ahead of the pickup rather than as a surprise on the day.

Lucca sits close to Florence for anyone combining the two cities in one Tuscan itinerary, and to the coast at Viareggio and Pietrasanta for a beach day after the historic centre.
