The road and timing
The route runs south along the western shore of Lake Como through Menaggio, joins the A9 motorway, and heads straight to Malpensa. The lakeside section is the most scenic part — narrow roads above the water with views of the Rhaetian Alps — and also the most time-variable in summer. For morning departures or early afternoon check-outs, we recommend scheduling the pickup to arrive at the terminal 2.5–3 hours before your flight. Your driver will advise on timing when you book.
In winter the road is clear and 70 minutes is a reliable estimate. In summer, Saturday mornings and weekend afternoons bring tourist traffic on the lake road; we account for that in the pickup recommendation.
